Grew up on industrial Teesside in the shadow of Eston Escarpment with views north across the steel and chemical works, Middlesbrough, the Tees, Hartlepool (monkey-hanging country!) and the iron-hard North Sea to Denmark and Norway. Commercial Art course at Scarborough Art School followed by a few years in Central Europe (Vienna) and a few years in the East Midlands (Nottingham) before graduating to Lunnen town. Years 'in the print', Fleet Street and environs, around the City and down to the (Isle of) Dogs with the Telegraph. Left the print in 1994 (courtesy of a 'shove' from Conrad Black) and a spell at Royal Mail, Mount Pleasant until 2008. Early retirement brought me to the writing 'game'. Five books on, and a sixth 'on the stocks' my RAVENFEAST saga series has taken shape in the days of the English resistance to William I.
