An Overview of the 2015 Digital Marketing Trends for Authors and Publishers

globe-bookBook marketing discussions centering on understanding the culture of readers is an old dialogue. Yet it has once again regained its place at the center of the publishing universe.

The term brand as publishers is a good example of why today’s content is king.  In order to motivate and grow a fan base that ruler must supply his/her audience with useful and entertaining content. The emerging trend in writing styles in how we present our work to the world…is not to hold back.  The creation of a dynamic web of varied social channels should draw attention to an individual’s work, with an economy of words.

To whet digital readers’ appetite for more, smart marketing dollars are being utilized to relearn how to rework marketing niches through social media. Old school is meeting up with new school tools. You need only read Google analysis to understand that ePublishing demographics are changing.  Giants of the social media channels are becoming important tools in the eMarketing reawakening as well, Twitter Analytics, A Snapshot of Reading in America, to name a few.

Digital content marketing has come of age and that fits right in the wheelhouse of publishers.

Do not limit your artistic borders – go beyond. Use infographs for quick visuals to argue who is reading your work or who is missing in your marketing efforts.  Social channels like Pinterest offer easy to understand charts breaking down demographics of your followers pin by pin. For publishers it supplies you with a clear understanding of an author’s audience reach.  This goes a long way in discovering how to brand an author or publication.

Organically growing your audience comes with branding a novelist’s writing style. Must you become your own digital marketing guru? Yes. There are riches in the niches.

Mastering the growing fragmentation of digital marketing channels will require kinships.  Publishers and authors will learn to pool ideas while understanding how and where to obtain specific supports.

Technology will continue to grow in ways that will consume our every waking moment, from smart wearable(s) to how we get our daily dosage of entertainment. YouTube, Pinterest and their like will grow at a more rapid pace.  Creating new media genres and subgenres within digital channels that will target specific pockets of audiences.  In addition, these new social channels will open new means of quicker clicks to sales, as long as the website or blog has cross platform capabilities. Mastering the distinction between being a human content curator or maker is important.

Through stunning visuals and authentic storytelling, audiences become ardent fans.  Less content does mean lessened quality.  Good prose is more important than ever in enhancing the visuals.

Nascent mobile devices are needful to keeping current in publishing and authorship.

More than at any other time in history, people have the means to obtain your words on a myriad of self-evolving web enabled devices.  The biggest trend in eBook and publishing in 2015 is its growing global reach.   Do not make assumptions about a specific demographic.  This is a time to create your own.
